Trireme Toccata is an Early Advanced piano solo by Tom Gerou, inspired by the ancient warship known for its three rows of synchronized oars. This vivid concept comes to life through low-middle-high hand crossings, sudden chord changes, and relentless rhythmic motion.

The piece is through-composed, featuring a central toccata-like theme in the right hand's middle register. This up-and-down pattern returns throughout the work, adding subtle variation and building musical tension.
