6 Artfully Crafted Preludes Etched in a Pleasant Style

Preludi d’intaglio were composed in response to my students’ fascination with repertoire such as Burgmüller’s “Confidence,” Op. 109, No. 1, and Chopin’s “Prelude,” Op. 28, No. 1 in C major—works that are concise, expressive, and musically satisfying. These six preludes, each spanning one to three pages, mirror that appeal: approachable in length, rich in melodic writing, and built on pleasing harmonic progressions.

Designed with contemporary harmonies and intriguing melodic lines, the pieces encourage technical growth while remaining engaging and accessible. Each prelude stands confidently on its own, yet together they offer a cohesive set that may be performed in any sequence.
