Overlapping Waves – Late Elem. Piano

by Tom Gerou

LATE ELEMENTARY PIANO SOLO

Overlapping Waves is a flowing Late Elementary piano solo inspired by the gentle motion of water. Smooth hand movement and shifting keyboard patterns create a continuous wave-like effect while encouraging students to move comfortably across the keyboard.

The melody is shared between the hands and supported by perfect fifths, producing a resonant, open sound. These textures help students develop hand coordination, rhythmic control, balance, and melodic shaping while maintaining an even musical flow.

With its calm character and visual imagery, Overlapping Waves is an appealing choice for recitals, studio performance, and Late Elementary pianists developing greater fluency and expressive control.
