Notturni d’intaglio was inspired by the expressive beauty of Chopin’s Nocturnes and the fiery passion of Albéniz’s Iberia. Drawing from these traditions, each of the six lyrical works is composed to expand the student’s understanding of phrasing and musical nuance — with melodies that imitate the natural inflection of the human voice.
Written with musicality and pedagogy in mind, these solos offer valuable opportunities for expressive development. Each piece stands on its own or may be performed in any order as a complete set.
