EARLY ELEMENTARY PIANO SOLO
Around a Roundabout is a playful and imaginative piano solo for early elementary students, featuring lyrics and an optional teacher accompaniment. Both hands remain primarily in F five-finger position, while students explore F major and F minor and use hand-over-hand motion to extend the keyboard range.
Intervals of a 2nd create a humorous “honking car” effect that gives the piece its distinctive character. Repeated patterns, limited hand movement, and clear rhythmic writing make the solo approachable for developing pianists while encouraging musical storytelling and expressive play.
With its whimsical theme and accessible technique, Around a Roundabout is well suited for recitals, lessons, and studio performances, giving young pianists an engaging way to build coordination, confidence, and musical imagination.
