Arachne – Int. Piano Solo

by Scott Price

INTERMEDIATE PIANO SOLO

Arachne draws on the myth of the legendary weaver in a hauntingly elegant Intermediate piano solo. Set in C-sharp minor, the piece uses intricate textures, syncopated pedal, compound duple meter, tenuto touches, and a delicate fermata to create an atmosphere of suspense and mystery.

Interlocking hand movements and carefully shaped phrasing encourage students to develop coordination, balance, rhythmic control, and expressive nuance. The D.C. al Coda structure adds a clear sense of return and resolution while reinforcing form and musical memory.

With its dark color, flowing motion, and narrative quality, Arachne is an effective choice for recitals, festivals, studio performance, and Intermediate pianists developing stronger interpretive and technical control.
